About Appointments

Any patient may call and schedule an appointment. Physician referral is not required. All individuals will be scheduled for an appointment at the earliest possible time, usually within several days to one week. Urgent or emergency problems will be given priority to be seen the same day as requested. Although you may see the physician of your choice, you will be seen sooner if you are willing to accept the earliest urology appointment, with the physician who is first available. Because of emergencies at the hospital and operating room priority, on occasion the urologist may be delayed getting to the office. As much as possible, you will be called and informed of the delay, or told when you report to the office receptionist. Office waiting room time will be kept to a minimum, and you will be seen as efficiently as possible. We serve you and appreciate you at all times.

Questions In-Between Appointments

  • General questions
We encourage you to call our office if you have questions in-between your appointments. There is usually no charge for the phone call even though you are receiving medical advice. Due to the large volume of phone calls to our office, you will not usually be able to immediately talk with a physician. Our receptionists and nurses are specially trained to answer your questions and properly manage your concerns. They will identify those situations that require physician attention. The physician may need to return your phone call as soon as possible but not in such a way as to inconvenience regularly scheduled patients. After hours phone calls will be received by the answering machine, which will provide instructions needed for a medical emergency.

  • Prescription Refills
Many prescriptions are written with appropriate numbers of refills lasting until your next scheduled appointment. Generally no refill prescriptions will be given over the phone when you have not been seen within the last year. Certain medicines are intended to be given continually and sudden cessation can cause withdrawal symptoms or disease recurrence. If you believe a medicine is causing a drug reaction or allergic reaction, please contact our office immediately for further instructions.

  • Lab And Test Reports
Usually the patient will be asked to call the office after a period of time for the results of laboratory and X-ray testing. Oftentimes these reports will be given to the patient by our office staff. When significant abnormalities are reported, your physician will discuss these results with you.

Emergencies

  • During office hours
During office hours, always call the office first. The nurse will give you instructions on what to do. Identify your call to the receptionist as an emergency so that immediate attention will be given to you.

  • After Hours
The urologist who is on call will be identified on the office answering machine at 812.882.4320 or by the Good Samaritan Hospital switchboard 812.882.5220 with instructions as to how he may be reached. When necessary, go directly to the Emergency Room at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Payment And Insurance Information

Payment is requested at the time service is provided. However, do not delay medical treatment because of temporary financial problems. Payment plans can be arranged. For those with insurance, we can assist with claim forms.

  • Insurance Claim Processing
For smaller fees, like appointment fees, claims will be filed after payment for direct reimbursement. Benefit payments will go directly to you in your name. More expensive diagnostic and surgical procedures may be billed first to your insurance carrier, but you will billed later for any co-pays, deductibles, or non-covered services.

  • Payment plans can be arranged.
We do not usually assess interest charges for arranging payment plans. Ask to see our Office Manager to establish a payment plan.

  • Insurance accepted
Medicare, Medicaid of Indiana, and most other insurances

  • Medicare coverage
Medicare generally is not meant to, and usually will not cover all expenses for the prevailing fees of professional services. Benefit payments from Medicare will go directly to you in your name. You will be responsible for the remainder.

  • What does my private insurance cover?
It is in your best interest to check your insurance providers' list of participating physicians to be sure your plan allows you to be seen at our office. Also, please review with your insurance customer service representative the rules and limitations of coverage for your particular plan. Coverage decisions are between you and your insurance provider.
